This past October, after the state tennis tournament in Princeton, my mom and I found ourselves standing in front of a small store sign reading "Psychic". After comtemplating for quite some time we decided to enter. Why not right? I can not say whether or not I believe what I was told while sitting in that dimly-lit room as most of the things the psychic told me were regarding my future. Of course, they were mostly pleasant things. But why would she tell me unpleasant things? I have always had mixed feelings about psychics. However, there is one thing I heard that I believe was true. With the smell of incense prominent in the cramped room, the psychic stared at me across a flickering candle and told me she sensed that I had been surrounded by negative energy for a rather long time. Then, she said that I would be rid of it shortly. However, she also said that even after the release of the cause of this energy, I will find it still trying to bring me down. She ordered me to keep my chin up and to brush off things that are meant to bother me. Although I left wondering what she could be referring to, I had a definite idea of what could be causing this aura of gloomy energy. Perhaps, at the time, I just did not want to admit it.
I believe things happen in life for a reason. Words said can not be taken back and neither can one's actions. I believe we need to live life as it comes at us--Live in the moment. If something does not feel right, move on. Trust your conscience and your heart. Do not get caught up in the drama and RUMORS of high school. The immature people who start them are not worth bothering with. Therefore, it does not matter what they think.
Finally, I believe I have released this negative energy that has clouded me for so long. Finally, I have freed myself from what has been trying to drag me down. I have been in incredibly cheerful moods lately and on these days I can not help but wonder if the psychic was actually correct. Of couse, I believe I would still be where I am now without my experience with the psychic. I will not purposely try to seek out the things she said I would find in life but I have found a positive energy source she predicted I would. However, for the next time I am encompassed by similar negativity, I can only hope that I will release it MUCH sooner than I did.

When we least expect it, someone or some event will influence our emotions and or our attitudes. And, we, without realizing it, can do the same.
